This Privacy Policy explains how VetRights(“VetRights,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles the information you provide when you visit https://vetrights.org(the “Site”) or add your name to our petition. VetRights is an independent advocacy campaign operated by the veteran team at VetClaims.ai. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or any government agency.

1. Information we collect

When you sign the petition, we ask you to provide:

• Your first and last name;
• Your email address;
• Your mailing address details (street, city, state, and ZIP code), and optionally your county;
• How you identify with the cause (for example, veteran, military family member, or supporter); and
• Your confirmation that you are a real person who wishes to add your name, and whether you would like to receive campaign updates.

We also automatically collect limited technical information needed to record and protect the integrity of a signature — such as your IP address, browser user-agent, and the date and time you signed and confirmed. This is used for verification and to guard against spam and abuse.

2. Information we do not collect

We intentionally keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the petition. We do not ask for or want sensitive information, including health or medical information, service records, Social Security numbers, or details of any VA benefit claim. Please do not send us that information.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you provide to:

• Record and verify your petition signature;
• Send you a confirmation (double opt-in) email so your signature counts;
• Present the petition and its signatures to members of Congress and other decision-makers as part of our advocacy;
• Contact you with campaign updates, but only if you asked to receive them;
• Prevent fraudulent or duplicate signatures and otherwise protect the Site.

4. Email confirmation and communications

After you sign, we send a confirmation email with a verification link that expires after 48 hours. Your signature is counted once you confirm. If you opted in to updates, we may occasionally email you about the campaign. Every update email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by contacting us at hello@vetrights.org.

5. How your petition information may be used and shared

A petition is a public act of advocacy. By signing, you understand that your name and your city and state may be included in the petition as it is presented to members of Congress and may be shown publicly as part of the campaign. Your email address and full street address are used for verification and internal records and are not published as part of the petition.

We share information with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf and only as needed to operate the campaign, including providers for:

• Email delivery (such as Mailgun or Google);
• Contact and campaign management / CRM (such as HighLevel / LeadConnector);
• Website hosting and databases (such as Vercel and Neon).

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the campaign, our supporters, or the public.

6. We do not sell your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

7. Cookies and analytics

The Site uses only the cookies needed to function. We do not run advertising pixels, and any privacy-respecting analytics are kept to a minimum. We do not send information you type into a form to third-party advertising services.

8. Data retention

We keep signature information for as long as needed to support the petition and our advocacy, to comply with legal obligations, and to resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete your information as described below.

9. Your choices and rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you may opt out of campaign emails at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. To make a request, contact us at hello@vetrights.org. We will respond consistent with applicable law.

10. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites or reference outside materials for informational purposes. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
